Knoxville native, Jacob Whitesides is turning heads.
Self-made wordsmith, Jacob Whitesides is on the rise following the release of his EP, A Piece of Me this past February.
The Knoxville-bred singer-songwriter has built a social following through grassroots efforts earning himself a steady following of 1.4 million Twitter followers and 281,633 YouTube subscribers.
Whitesides first became interested in music after attending a bluegrass festival in 2008. He then self-taught himself to play guitar and eventually built the courage to sing and write.
Shortly after, he began playing small shows in and around Knoxville and posting covers of Top 40 hits on his YouTube channel where he sparked interested in fans around the world; the beginning of his dedicated following.
It wasn’t long after that he auditioned for Fox’s reality singing show, The X Factor in 2012 where he was exposed to a national audience, growing his following after making the cut after the show’s second season.
Two years later, Whitesides released his first EP, 3 AM. The EP received positive reviews, peaking at No. 26 on the Billboard 200 chart and No. 2 on Billboard’s Independent Albums chart. 3 AM included cover songs by John Legend, Plain White T’s and John Mayer among others.
Earlier this year, Whitesides released his sophomore EP, A Piece of Me. The EP contains six original songs, five of which he co-wrote and was released through his own JW Records.
